Prof Heng LI

BE, ME, PhD(Syd.), MAIB, MAIQS, MHKIE

Heng started his academic career from Tongji University since 1987. He received his PhD from The University of Sydney. Heng then researched and lectured at the University of Sydney, James Cook University and Monash University before joining Hong Kong Polytechnic University. During this period, Heng have also worked with engineering design and construction firms and provided consultancy services to both private and government organizations in Australia, Hong Kong and China. Heng has conducted many funded research projects related to the innovative application and transfer of construction information technologies. Dr Shuai HAN

Research Assistant Professor

Dr. Shuai HAN (Jason) received his Ph.D. degree and M.Eng degree from Tianjin University in 2021, and B.Eng degree from Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University in 2015. Dr HAN is a researcher with multidisciplinary skills, and his research area covers smart construction, geological engineering, dredging construction, geosciences, geographic information system, building information models, etc. His achievements are diversified with many papers published in Science Citation Index journals, several granted patents and computer software copyrights, and a book. He is an affiliate member of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering. He has rich research and engineering experiences and has participated in more than ten research projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and state-owned enterprises. Dr Shahnawaz ANWER

Research Assistant Professor

Dr Shahnawaz Anwer is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Building and Real Estate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He attained his PhD degree form The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2021 and Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2007 and Master of Physiotherapy in 2009 from the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at the Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, India. Previously, he worked as a full-time researcher at the King Saud University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ranked 56th among universities in Asia) from June 2013 to Jan 2019. He also worked as Assistant Professor at Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy, Pune, India from 2012 to 2013. He worked as Junior Lecturer at the National Institute of Orthopedically Handicapped (NIOH), Kolkata, India from 2010 to 2012. He is a reviewer for more than 20 International peer reviewed Indexed Journals. Additionally, he has been serving as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Manual & Manipulative Therapy and BMC Musculoskeletal disorders since 2015. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed articles in indexed journals. His articles have been cited for more than 1300 times and his H-index is 19. His research focuses mainly on Musculoskeletal problems in construction workers, Physical fatigue, Construction Ergonomics, Construction Health and Safety, Digital Construction Technologies and Innovations (e.g., BIM, wearable sensors, robotics), Biomechanical Analysis and Technology Transfer in Construction. Ying WANG

PhD Student

Ying WANG is a PhD student in the Department of Building and Real Estate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She earned a MSc degree in Construction Project Management from the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace & Civil Engineering, The University of Manchester. Her research interests mainly fall in prefabricated construction, public housing, construction management, and text mining. In the spare time, she enjoys watching movies, singing, traveling, and writing novels.

Mr. Imran MEHMOOD is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Building and Real Estate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Yi YU is a PhD student in the Department of Building and Real Estates at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He earned a MS degree in Construction and Real Estate from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research focuses mainly on automated and intelligent construction, facilitate and develop the traditional and complex construction industry by using hardware devices such as drones and robots.

Jie MA

PhD Student

Jie MA is a PhD student in the Department of Building and Real Estate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Jie obtained her BSc and MSc degrees from University of Oxford in the UK. She received her undergraduate scholarship awards in the two consecutive years (2009 and 2010). She started her career in an Architecture Institute as a structure engineer, and later on settled in BIM Research Center in a Chinese university as a lecturer. She co-written two textbooks on BIM application topics and published several Sci paper in civil engineering journals. Jie studied Engineering Science at University of Oxford, which allowed her to acquire the knowledge from different engineering fields such as civil engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering and electrical engineering, this laid a solid foundation for her deeper cultivation in any engineering field. Yue WU

PhD Student

Yue WU is a PhD student in the Department of Building and Real Estate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She received her master’s degree in Mathematics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and attained her bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics at Hebei University. Her research focuses mainly on Computational Mathematics, Digital Image Processing, Graph Theory. Currently, her interests are the application of deep learning and computer vision in semantic image segmentation.

Prof Xiaochun LUO

PhD & Principal Research Fellow

Dr. Xiaochun LUO is a Professor in School of Civil Engineering and Transportation at South China University of Technology. In the last 10 years, Dr. Luo has been studying the temporal and spatial evolution of construction activities under the background of extensive production, proposed a series of new process models and analysis methods. His papers can be found here. As the first author, Dr. Luo won the 2018 Best Paper Award of the Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering. To advance technological progress in the construction industry, Dr. Luo has proposed a series of practical intelligent sensing technologies and innovative applications based on Internet of Things and computer vision, which won 2015 Merit Innovation Achiever’s Award of CIOB International Innovation & Research Award and 2019 Gold Medal in the 47th International Exhibition of Inventions, Geneva, Switzerland. Dr Maxwell Fordjour Antwi-Afari

Dr. Maxwell Fordjour Antwi-Afari is a Lecturer in Construction & Qs at School of Engineering Systems & Management in Aston University, Birmingham, UK. He attained his Ph.D. in Construction Information Technology at the Department of Building and Real Estate in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University through the Postgraduate Studentship Scholarship in March 2019.
